Motor Sales in 2010

Tukang Nggame - National motorcycle sales in August are expected through more than 700,000 units, up 4.3% compared with the previous month, driven by strong consumer demand.

Japanese sales data for four brands showed the volume of the motor market (domestic and exports) in August reached 731 921 units. Cumulatively from January to August, two-wheeler sales to touch 5,042,647 units.

This realization almost total motorcycle market in 2009 which reached 5.8 million units. With sales of over four months remaining, the target of the motor market this year at 7.2 million units of the peg seems to be achieved.

Julius Aslan, Marketing Director of PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) said at the motorcycle market in August re-recorded a record high national history.

He projected, the volume will be larger than the period of July which posted a 701 258 units.

"It must be higher. Figures detail I had not known since no official data of the AISI (Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association)," Julius said, recently.

Along with the market continued to strengthen, sales competition between two major players namely Honda Motor and Yamaha increasingly fierce.

Honda's sales by widening the distance with the difference garputala distribution of approximately 90,000 units (cumulatively). In August, Honda Motor to sell 350 669 units to the market domesik, Yamaha with numbers exceeding 316 447 units.

Throughout January-August of Honda two-wheeler market leader with total sales of 2,352,686 units and 2,262,792 units of Yamaha.

In the last month, Suzuki survive ranked third with sales of 54 325 units, up 5.8% compared with the 51 316 units in July.

The Kawasaki pocketing sales increase 6.1% to 8480 units in July compared with the 7986 unit. Total sales volume of these two brands in their respective cumulative 350 224 units and 56 689 units.

So far, sales figures have not known the other two brands namely TVS and Kanzen. However, sales of the four brands had already covers 98% of the total national market.
